District 23: Chris Bruce surprisingly got more votes than Melissa Durrant (well known in Ag) in Owyhee county.

Tina Lambert did not have a campaign FB page, while Dygert had a very active one. It appears Dygert got the Owyhee crowd to show up in force, which ironically, were the votes that may have put Chris Bruce on top.

For House 32A, both of the challengers were not LDS. Districts 28 and up have at least half LDS of the Total Population. How many have been elected in Eastern Idaho that are NOT LDS could be something interesting to track, if possible. Likely a high correlation.

I could not find if Janice McGeachin is LDS or not. IF not, she may very well be the exception to the rule.

As LDS are explicitly informed not to mix religion with politics as it considered being a bad witness, finding out if they're LDS or not tends to be difficult on their public pages without doing some further research.

30B. Truly a guy punch. Her opponent Fuhriman led a campaign on purely false accusations, nothing at all to offer, and with no history other than losing $10k of Bingham County Republicans on a foolish lawsuit against the IDGOP. But there’s enough family and church members willing to vote for this disingenuous dufus, so the GSC played it well. Sorensen, a Simpson staffer…., couldn’t present the prescribed bs and came off as unlikeable and frankly, just not smart.

Ugly. Just ugly.

So sad to see Herndon lose but he did keep his PC seat. Hopefully, he will stay engaged and come back in the future. Will really miss Julianne Young! What a strong, constant advocate for the unborn. And happy to see Winder and Yamamoto out. Maybe 2025 will be the year for school choice. Thank you for the short and sweet recap.

🔥🔥May 2024 Primaries — Mostly Positive Outcomes for Conservatives

Despite a few notable and heartbreaking losses, the May 2024 Idaho Primary Elections were overall positive for conservative principles and liberty.

The biggest loss was low turnout. As we’ve said before, primaries matter most in Idaho. Every vote mattered greatly, especially in close races that might have had different outcomes with better turnout.

I’ll keep my voting guide updated with any additional analysis and commentary I receive about the May 2024 Primaries here (short URL): https://tinyurl.com/332j952z

Rep. Julianne Young (District 30) wrote an eloquent message “To the good people of Bingham and Butte County and to my dear friends all across the great state of Idaho.”

I’ve shared her message below so you can see what a gracious and principled legislator Idaho lost because voters either failed to see the truth about her or failed to turn out in droves to support her.

NOTE: Young is requesting a paid recount because of the small difference in the election results for her race, but will respect the voters’ decision if the results remain consistent (more about Julianne Young at https://youngforidahohouse.com/).

Young wrote…

❝ I believe in a God who consecrates our afflictions for our gain. Consequently, I believe that even things which seem unfair or the deliberate harm which others may do to us will ultimately be turned to our good, individually and collectively, if we allow God’s hand to work in our lives.

My decision to serve has never had a basis in personal ambition and I am happy to continue to serve wherever I stand. It has been a great honor to serve the good people of our district and the state of Idaho. I am at peace, looking back over my legislative service, knowing that I have served you with my whole heart and that the service I have given has undoubtedly had a lasting impact for good.

I have been blessed to successfully implement foundational public policies for the state of Idaho in defense of the family and fundamental conservative principles that have not only attracted national and international attention, but have effectively prepared the way for others to continue to protect the family, our first amendment freedoms, and much more for years to come.

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported me in these efforts and those with whom I have been privileged to work. Your service and examples have enriched my life and left an indelible imprint on my heart and mind. I have learned so much from you!

I am requesting a paid recount because of the small difference in the election results for my race, but respect the decision made by the voters of our district and, assuming that the results remain consistent, I wish my opponent the very best in his public service.

I feel that it is appropriate to recognize the deep divide within our community which has fueled a toxic local political culture of stereotyping, labeling, and rumor-mill accusations. It is my intention to move forward– treating each person as a unique individual, deserving of respect and consideration. I call on others to join me in this effort. Trust must be rebuilt. Our ability to do so is dependent upon a willingness to publicly recommit to a culture of respect, honesty, transparency, and fairness, both in the transaction of public business and in our private conversations. I call on my friends and neighbors to join me in setting standards that will nurture such a culture as we move forward.

I look forward to continuing to serve, albeit in a slightly different capacity! I trust that there is much good yet to be accomplished and that we will be blessed as we press forward together in doing all the good we can! ❞

Until we get the Ball family and Vandersloot {melaleuca} money out of Bonneville county I'm afraid we'll be stuck with these rinos for a long time. Mickelsen and Wheeler are the worst and are bought and paid for.

In regards to Rep. Steve Miller not responding to your interview request, I know he and his wife had a lot going on in the last month. They had two deaths in their family and Steve was busy farming. His wife did most of his campaigning for him, in between funerals.

The conservatives in LD24 supported and campaigned for Steve; no, he is not very conservative in his votes, but his opponent, Jeff Faulkner, was personally called by Chenele Dixon and Scott Bedke to run against Steve. The conservatives saw this as disgraceful and traitorous to their friend and fellow candidate that they campaigned with in the last primary. Our feeling was that because of this, Faulkner would be the worse choice. That point was verified at the candidate forum held at CSI--Faulkner so poorly communicated, it was obvious he hadn't been vetted by Dixon and Bedke. He was a complete idiot-- so much so, it was insulting to our intelligence that he was their choice.

Although the conservatives disagree with a lot of Steve's votes, he is honorable, is his own man, and isn't beholden to the special interests. I wholeheartedly support him.

I've nothing against Rep. Miller, and based on what you've reported I'm glad he won.
