He meets regularly with IACI stakeholders and touts his spending as Idaho’s “only appropriator.” He has shown no interest in conservative principles, so we certainly have no voice.
Congressman Fulcher also seems to have different priorities from his conservative constituency.
We have mostly given up on representatives from either party, especially in Washington DC. So very disappointing to those of us who moved to Idaho hoping for conservative representation at federal as well as state and local levels.
This is problematic. This is ignoring the base issue which is that the lower wages that Big Ag likes to claim they have to have, only exists because the tax payers pay the rest of the bill for these people to come live here.
It’s all slight of hand. Big Ag profits remain, but the cost to the public is the same, if not higher. The real cost is not on the price tag of the food at the store, but taken through taxes and unrealized expenses. It is just hidden.
Additionally, how does this square with the recent Supreme Court decision that birth citizenship is still in place?
Every single one of these worker family’s equals future guaranteed residence through anchor babies.
Is that being addressed in Simpsons bill?
None of this is good for Idaho and it’s not good for America.
How do we fight this? It’s corruption existing right out in the open and being championed by one of our state senators.
I don't believe this particular bill will pass. Enough Republicans know how toxic this is to the base that they're not going to support it, especially right before the midterms. Unfortunately Simpson is past his primary, and he has enough power in CD2 that he's not going to lose, short some black swan event.
I think we need to continue making the moral and practical case against the mass importation of a foreign workforce. We've come a long way in the last 10-15 years.
