Thank you Brian.

I wonder if conservatives forget that we are in a pluralistic society and government. Many views and perspectives in our population. People vote for our representatives, so to my mind New York deserves what they get and so does California. We moved out of California because in the short term conservatives would not likely take back the government.

Compromise as you lay it out is exactly what we work with this side heaven.

Thank you for articulating it so well.

Terry

Compromise that moves you towards your goal is good. Compromise that moves us in the wrong direction is bad. Refusing to compromise is bad if failure results in movement in the wrong direction. Refusing to compromise is good if the status quo is better than the direction of change. Thanks for the nuance!

Clausewitz has stated that war is “the continuation of policy with the addition of other means."

Settlement in war, and in legal battles is often one of compromise. Likewise, politics often requires compromise. Unless you want to go genocide. Then by all means, don't compromise, but you'd better be the first to volunteer you and your children's lives for your cause.

I'd also start any discussion of non-compromise with the "Florentine Histories" by Niccolo Machiavelli. Exile, execution, or helicopter rides.
